A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.

France - Bikes & Pippa

Having had such a good time cycling in France, and since Pips had long had a yen for driving to France, we combined the two and took the bikes with the car and went cycling and camping and exploring and eating and strolling and eating - oh, did I mention eating?

Chocolate cake? Breakfast?
Of course, needless to say Pips is a sucker for anywhere that serves her chocolate cake for breakfast, forget the jacuzzi, the linen tablecloths etc, gimme more cake.

House and Gardens
The whole place was an advert really, small collections of things, arranged with taste were everwhere.

Also needless to say Pippa didn't want to leave. But this was one of many places she didn't want to leave once there.

The next day we drove down to the Loire, well actually the Loir —a much smaller river slightly to the north of the more well known one with an 'e'. We were a little apprehensive as we drew closer because it seemed to be endless flat wheatfields, lashed by wind under a leaden sky. But Bonneval itself turned out to be a very pretty place. We went to the tourist office, met an interesting guy who offered to take us around on his bike. Pippa was laughing in the background, pretending not to be with me, as I happily said anything that came into my head whether it was French or not.

The following morning this was the route we took on our bikes, leaving the car at the campsite.
