Agen Town

Agen was really very nice, some modern buildings but a lot of more medieval parts to the town.  My first good impression was helped still further by the woman I spoke to in the Town Hall.  She was going to explain where the tourist office was but first asked if I knew Agen.  When I replied that I didn't she said that she'd just walk with me and show me the way!  I can't imagine going into my home town hall and someone offering to walk me down Northumberland Street to show me where the tourist office is.  Very friendly.

The tourist office gave me the usual plethora of leaflets but the thing that caught my attention was the voice of the man who helped me.  He sounded exactly like Louis from 'Daily French Podcast' the french language podcasts I'd been listening to for a couple of weeks before my holiday.  In the end I had to go back in the office and ask him if he was Louis, but he said not.

Exploring

I rode around and explored, found the place where the coach would leave from and had something nice to eat for lunch, and for only 6.9€.  The ride to Agen was only about 20km but by the time I'd ridden around Agen and then explored Port Saint Marie I'd done nearer 70km.
