A good traveler has no fixed plans and is not intent on arriving.
It was about 1,300m at the camp site where the day started, 1,900m at the refugio de corones and the pass you can see is at 2,700m but the last 300m is all scree and is very very tiring. I found it not just physically demanding but the concentration required for every step also saps your energy, since any slip could mean a broken leg.
It's amazing how, between the rocks in this most austere of environments, the same flowers grow that I have in my garden.
