Deciduous Trees

The first deciduous trees I've seen for some time. It's hot and humid down here.

Sign of Life

I've just seen three people. The first two I took to be French since they didn't reply to my greeting of 'Hola'. They did reply when I waved my hand in front of their faces and said 'hola-bonjour-hello'.

This wasn't the first time I'd noticed that if you say 'hola' to a french person it's as though you hadn't said anything; they just don't respond. That sounds a sweeping statement and patently it can't be true, but the nine french people I'd met on the trail over the previous days seemed to suggest it might be. I find this odd, for two reasons. The first is that, being in Spain, you'd think that everyone would at least learn how to say 'hello', and then secondly because surely, if you meet someone at the top of a mountain and they say something you don't understand but with a smile and rising intonation, it's even money it's a greeting; so you could say hello back.

Anyway, other than the two silent french people, the third person was someone editing a guide book and who was checking the continued accuracy of the information therein. An interesting guy.
